Teaching and training
K.T. Margaret was a member of the National Focus Group on Systemic Reforms for Curriculum Change, one of the advisory groups convened by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for the formulation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005.
Margaret K T began her professional journey as a high school teacher in 1962. She was deputed for a five-month English teaching training course conducted by the British Council Regional Institute of English (RIE) in Bangalore in 1963.
Later she started TNCC (Tilak Nagar Children Centre), an educational centre for slum children of Tilak Nagar in Bangalore.
Teacher training and NGO education
Margaret worked as a teacher and teacher trainer supported by Oxfam, Action Aid, CRY and International Plan. She trained teachers of different NGOs in Karnataka.
Prakash Patil and the Trust
Prakash joined Margaret's assistant teacher trainer group in 2002, later supporting ICDS training in 60 villages in Koppala district. Motivated to apply Margaret's methodology and values, the teacher–student team started Vidya Mytri Trust.
